The weather is terribly hot.
Plants are drying up in the heat, so I am sewing and staying out of the heat.
I need to figure out again how to post pictures on my blog.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-56795114552251932602018-05-29T14:08:00.001-07:002018-05-29T14:08:43.189-07:00Charity workdaySouthern star and Tee Hee bees met together at my house today. We had ten ladies working and laughing from 10 till~ 3:30. We made 61 pillowcases for various charities in the Austin area. Gail provided lunch which was fantastic. Sara brought her homemade bread. Several others brought extras too. It was a great positive effort on everyone’s part.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-54063688880530426852018-05-17T06:30:00.000-07:002018-05-17T06:30:25.320-07:00Saturday I delivered five new tops to the church. I kept three to put the borders on. At the retreat last week, I finished two more embroideries of animal portraits. I made one block for the “tree farm”. I made Godric’s quilt top and back. Now I am quilting his quilt which is a friendship star 🌟 quilt.
I have many projects to work on, but have to take them slowly. Energy is lacking. Each day is a new chance to create something beautiful.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-38489090024038714262018-04-01T12:39:00.002-07:002018-04-01T12:39:47.594-07:00March stitching I spent last week doing a meditation stitching with my sewing machine. The results were three quilt tops made from scraps. It worked as a meditation because I kept the fabric pieces simple. Not a way to be productive. Slow but good.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-75299784126816395702018-02-10T06:04:00.000-08:002018-02-10T06:04:13.814-08:00Quit tops and blocksYesterday I finished my sixth quilt top for the year. I am thankful to my bee for the scraps they gave me and thankful I could sew them into a top.
I am attempting to cut down on the stuff that fills my house and clutters my mind. Ideas come fast and furious, but I have to keep clearing space so that I can persue some of the ideas I am so happy to be getting again. Being a seventy year old grandmother is such a blessing. I want to be a good example for the little ones. That means clearing out space so we can play, too.

A cold day is a good time to organize and get rid of some stuff. So off I go...Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-80268108827690120592018-01-30T16:06:00.002-08:002018-01-30T16:06:30.104-08:00I have finished three quilt tops for LWR. This is starting out the new year a bit slow, but I have been under the weather for almost a whole month. Finally on antibiotics, hope they guessed right.
My cough is vert wet sounding. No fun here!
Three so far. Taking a class in thread painting tomorrow. Looking forward to learning a new technique.
I am overwhelmed by all the fabric and batting I have acquired. It is taking several days to piece and quilt and bind these quilts. A very slow way to get rid of fabric and batting.
Just finished sandwiching another quilt. Hope to quilt later this afternoons.
Beautiful weather here. Cool temperatures make me want to take a nap.
Yesterday was filled with bee meeting, inspiration and shopping. Today I got to sit back and look at the garden. I planted a few of the plants I purchased during the granddaughter's stay for spring break. I am envious of wild flowers blooming all around my yard but not many in my yard. I filled and placed two hummingbird feeders, but I didn't see any in the yard.
The big spectacular thing was a pair of red shouldered hawks playing and flirting in the yard. Of course that made all the little birds hide, but it was beautiful and sounded loud.
I had our small group meeting tonight. I feel the group running on low energy. The food is great, but
some people are not very prepared. The fellowship is great. I am truly loving all of this group.
Not sure what to think of the end coming.
I worked on the gypsy wife's quilt. It is very complicated and busy. Not sure what will become of it.
Only three more weeks of the class. It is sapping a lot of my time.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-44084813538241936202017-03-07T20:09:00.001-08:002017-03-07T20:09:25.990-08:00Catch 22I just started a new blog and then this one opens up for me.
I have not posted since January because I couldn't get into my blog.
Also finishing my Hobbity quilt for a friend. This sashiko stitching has been slow but good. The winter has been rather mild since we had a few freezing days. Many good days for stitching!
Last week we had our first Road Scholar trip to San Antonio. I am working on handwork and quilting by machine.
"Under water dream."

I had lots of fun with embroidery in 2016, hoping to include some photos. Working from an Ipad is not necessarily the best way to keep a blog but it is my favorite device.

I have caught up on my commitment to sew a quilt top for each week in the year, this year. Three more quilt tops to be turned in.
I do not seem to be able to import photos to my blog, but I am trying to learn.
I am happy to be using my stash. The tops are prettier than the upholstery fabric that I have been using.
I have many yards of solids I bought for this project. I will be making ten and one half inch squares to make the sewing go faster. These are utility quilts so all colors are welcome.
It is a great day!
My cataracts have been removed so I am seeing much more color now.
I have started a project to use up a large portion of my stash. Fifty-two quilts for charity this year. The blocks are going together very quickly.
I am creating zen tangles to color and having a ball. Crazy quilting is still a big part of my passion so hand stitching gets time each week.
Building health to get back to a reliable level is requiring personal training three times a week.
My goal is to walk over 5000 steps a day. High hopes for a good year.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-30294411838062994152015-09-22T19:15:00.002-07:002015-09-22T19:15:48.138-07:00Time flies Well it has been a very long time. I have been fighting breast cancer for a second time. I have finished the 12 week LiveStrong program at the YMCA in Oak Hill. I was the oldest and the only one with cancer a second time. I made great friends and we all made great progress in regaining our healthy states. I plan to try a cycling class tomorrow along with Linda a gal I met at the Y.
I saw Dr Kampe for my 3 month check up. He was not surprised that I had sore joints. He suggested that we try a different medicine. I do not know the name yet. He was going to send the Prescription in to the Mailorder Pharmacy. I spoke up and complained, rather than just trying to bear it.
I worked on a new blouse today. It is too big and I need to cut it down a bit. I am still working on organizing my sewing rooms. The chaos from the kitchen remodel still reigns .I am learning to use my new machine. It is fun.

I have sorted through most of the stuff that I got from Renee for the Bernina. Getting organized looks and feels good.I have been journeling and may continue to do that rather than tyoe on this blog. I do hope to Post some pictures of Quilts and blocks soon.
I have decided that I am ready to be over 39 years old. There has been a lovely fiction in feeling 39. Now that I am giving up that myth, I plan to act a little more mature. The weekly work on quilts and art may not hold the same place in my daily life. I must look at more of the whole. health is no longer to be taken for granted,. I see myself being much more deliberate about exercise as a necessity. I still do not think it is healthy to aim at productivity as a virtue. I have too many interests to give up a bunch just to be productive. I will make progress on exercise in order to enjoy life and have the energy to make art. an hour for meditation for spiritual health is needed. an hour for exercise for health.a n hour for culinary work is needed to nurture our bodies. an hour for reading and an hour of together time to feed our marriage seeStaciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-2248387328582132682013-04-03T13:54:00.001-07:002013-04-03T13:54:27.706-07:00Rainy Day!I love the sound of rain on the roof. Three inches in the rain gauge. Would have been easy to just curl up with a book and the cat, but had fun with a friend stitching.
I am trying to set a time-- Wednesday morning for fiber work-- invite friends to stop in and just do fibers for a couple hours. Today was second Wednesday in a row that it has worked. I worked with yarn and d worked on a crazy block. Very good vibes. We both made progress. Yea!Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-754721816658164202013-02-02T16:08:00.000-08:002013-02-02T16:08:37.103-08:00Cedar pollen gone at last!Today to great! Male cedar trees are all in huge pile and will go away soon. Now I can breath a little easier. Felting some "blocks" to use in crazy quilt. Not sure this will pass the quilt police, but it is fun.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-71062195980476283102012-06-19T08:04:00.000-07:002012-06-19T08:04:00.025-07:00It happenedFinished my strips into half a quilt. Now I am back to half square triangles. This will take more time. First running out to make my first felted handle for my wonderful purse. The purse I made in a class at living felt. Rudy inside and waterlily on the outside. I think it is gorgeous. It will protect my iPad as I travel.Staciahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18142363605146855885noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2876703260343949667.post-64400667209913942472012-06-17T16:36:00.000-07:002012-06-17T16:36:27.611-07:00Cat's clawGreat day to stay inside. Many projects to complete or just make progress on, but what did I do - read a good book. This is not the way to get projects finished.
