Fun with stencils

I have had a great two days. I wanted to creat my own Christmas cards. Great idea!
Lesson learned I do not want to work in a factory.
I took lots of breaks and still kept the sprirt in the making.
This is my best season in several years. No hassles!
The best part has been playing with paint, dye, and ink!

Charity quilts again

Sandy, a friend from church came over yesterday and we made two quilt tops for charity. Working together made the laughs louder and the work easier. Great day!

Finally fall

The cool weather has finally arrived. We had rain two days in a row. Just the right time to finish some work on crazy blocks. Felting keeps drawing my attention then I want to embellish like a crazy block. Seems like wool felt should be my next crazy quilt fabric.

Wheelbarrow means work

Even a shiny blue wheelbarrow is work to push around. What happened to the days you could get your kids excited about chores for fifty cents?
Fiber keeps calling even when the weather is beautiful and the birds are calling.
When will we get rain again?

New blue wheel barrow!

Today is a beautiful day. Stitching is second to my new blue wheelbarrow today. Of course I am mighty tired, but if it ever rains again plants will have a better chance of holding the moisture. Fall asters are mounds of lush purple. Finally some color.

Sick day is good day

This is a good day. Sick G granddaughter. She has the fastest color wash I have ever seen. Then it's time to go downstairs while it drys then up again to draw over with colored pencils. More art! Luckily Opa is able to play school. He is the helper dad and helps the teacher G. I am resting and stitching on a felted quilt.

Five quilt tops finished

Beautiful day ! A little breeze. Only 90 degrees.
Cleaned up after the cat. Still not sure what she ate.
Wet felting and watercolors today. Not even looking at the mountain of fabric.

This is another example of learning the hard way. A quilt a day is way too much. I am so glad that there is grace. I am now setting a more realistic goal. One a week is good enough. Now I will get back to reading, knitting, playing in the garden and making fiber art. Retirement should not feel like working in a sweat shop.

Too much stuff!

Sometime it takes me a long time to catch on to the concept that less is more.
I love my art which uses very little fabric, but once in a while I just fall to the temptation that more is good.
I have a huge pile of clean fabric from a fabric store going out of business. I have washed four loads so it is clean. Now I am trying to sew it up into charity quilt tops. One a day is my goal. To keep myself honest and working on this goal; I will post the number as the tops get finished. The idea is to keep it fun and enjoy the process. Help keep me on track, if you will.
This may get hard as the weather cools down and I start yearning for play with wool and silk in the outdoors.

Another hot day in central Texas

Some clouds are good. Hard to believe 107 degrees not even to the hottest part of the day yet.
